   Above you can see the route from Lhasa back to Beijing highlighted in pink, with Lhasa, Xian and Datong underlined in red. It's a long ride. 

  If you never heard of Shaanxi or Xian, don't feel alone. Our main interest in the area was the famous terra-cotta warriors. Of course, this being China there's a lot of other stuff to see, and the fact that a major emperor had his tomb in Xian was a clue that the area was very important at one time in Chinese history. There are literally tons of dead bodies and tombs which have never been excavated! If this is your forte, Xian is for you. 

  This is just an intro page to help us structure the site, so without further ado, let's board the train!
